FIGHTING OVERDOSE: Voices on Polysubstance Use

MARCH 31, 2021

Your Community. Your State. Your Voice.

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

10:00am - 12:00pm

In 2018, Alaska did a series of community cafes to get feedback for the Statewide Opioid Action Plan and as a result of this, we have an action plan that represents the voices of Alaska. Hosted by the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (SOA DHSS) Office of Substance Misuse and Addiction Prevention (OSMAP), through the CDC OD2A Peer-to-Peer Learning Collaborative, the "Fighting Overdose: Voices on Polysubstance Use" virtual webinar will teach how to conduct strategic planning beginning at the community level through using the World Cafe Method and Alaskan cultural specific techniques. The webinar will also gather your voices on how polysubstance use is affecting your state, and how your state is addressing it. OSMAP is excited to be joined by two Alaskan subject matter experts to facilitate this webinar journey, Dr. Gary Ferguson, and Doug Johnson.

Your Community. Your State. Your Voice

ABOUT THE METHOD

Reflect the diversity voices of your communities and state in developing or reviewing your next opioid-related prevention, treatment, and recovery plan. Alaska's Office of Substance Misuse and Addiction Prevention (OSMAP), in contract with Government Event Services, will lead the way in supporting your agency in capturing these voices through methodology known as the World Cafe Method. Through webinars, tool kits, and hands on consulting assistance, we will assist in ensuring your next plan is realistic for those of whom it serves. All of this is funded through the CDC Overdose Data to Action grant.
